Our Programme For Schools

We spend our summer on the road, performing to audiences across the UK - much like a contemporary version of Shakespeare’s very own ‘The King’s Men’, with a musically-driven twist!

When we’re not touring in the great outdoors, we visit schools with our unique take on the Bard with a programme of abridged performances and workshops…

“The Three Inch Fools' performance of Macbeth to the whole of our Year 11 was masterful. The boys were a rapt audience to their slick and purposeful cut of the play"

Royal Grammar School (High Wycombe)

Autumn 2024 - Macbeth

This Autumn we are touring our one-hour version of Macbeth, visiting schools across the UK.

We visit schools and perform highly energetic, ingeniously physical and vibrantly musical takes on Shakespeare's plays.

As well as our one-hour abridged school performances, our workshops make Shakespeare accessible to students of all ages. We will get your students working on their feet like actors in a rehearsal room, building your pupils' confidence when approaching Shakespeare, as well as instilling a love and connection to his plays. We like to bring our musical ideas and techniques into our workshops - we find soundscape and atmosphere are a great way to better engage and capture students’ imaginations.

Some frequently asked questions...

Q. What age are the performances and workshops for?

Our performances are accessible to students of all ages, from the age of 4 to 18. Our shows are inventive, musical, physical and fun! We deliver workshops to all age groups but we have different workshop plans for different Key Stages. When you book a workshop with us, we will always ask about the age/ needs of your students. That way, we can make sure we have the best workshop for them.

Q. How many students can watch the performance and take part in the workshops?

For the performance itself, there isn’t really a maximum number of students in the audience. As long as you have the space, we can perform to as many students as you want! For the workshops, we can work with lots of students, but we always prefer to split the students into groups of 30 as it’s better for the students - they get more attention and it’s more focused for them. We will have one actor working with each group. Depending on the number of students that you wish to attend the workshop, we may bring in additional practitioners to assist.

Q. What space do we need for the workshop to happen?

A school hall is always perfect, but we are fairly flexible. The main thing is that the space is big enough to hold your students as well as our performance area. We need a space 6m wide x 4m deep in which to perform.

Q. Do the students need to know the play?

No. The troupe will adjust the content of the play and workshops to suit the students’ needs.

Q. With there being a focus on music in your workshops, do we need to provide instruments for the students?

No. We will provide percussion instruments if that's part of the workshop plan, but often we explore music with our bodies and voices.
