Speke Hall – Macbeth

Macbeth

SPEKE HALL, NATIONAL TRUST

20 June - 7.00pm

Armed with all manner of musical instruments, The Fools present an inventive take on Shakespeare’s infamous Scottish play, accompanied by an original folk inspired soundtrack. Expect a fast-paced, musically-driven show, using all sorts of different instruments, plenty of multi-roling and many a quick costume change along the way!

This performance is an outdoor performance. We recommend that you bring blankets/chairs to sit on. Do bring coats and warm clothing, and if rain is forecast bring a raincoat. We ask that you don't bring umbrellas as these can obscure the view for other people in the audience. In the event of rain the performance will continue! The venue will be open for picnics 1 hour before the performance starts. 7.00pm start time, picnics welcome from 6.00pm.

THE PLAY

Macbeth, a valiant warrior, becomes consumed by greed when three witches tell of a prophecy that he will one day become king of Scotland. Urged on by his scheming wife, Macbeth takes fate into his own hands, setting in motion an ever more desperate struggle for power. Will the rise of a tyrant see the downfall of a once victorious man?
