Armed with all manner of musical instruments, The Fools present an inventive take on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream - a comic tale of runaway lovers, beguiling potions and a rather unfortunate individual who gets turned into a donkey.
This performance is an outdoor performance. We recommend that you bring blankets/chairs to sit on. Do bring coats and warm clothing, and if rain is forecast bring a raincoat. We ask that you don't bring umbrellas as these can obscure the view for other people in the audience. In the event of rain the performance will continue! The venue will be open for picnics 1 hour before the performance starts. 7.00pm start time, picnics welcome from 6.00pm.
The Play
Hermia loves Lysander, but her father wants her to marry Demetrius. Her best friend, Helena, is in love with Demetrius, but he wants nothing to do with her. When the four lovers decide to elope into the woods, little do they know things are about to get a lot more complex. The mischievous sprite, Puck, is ready to show that the course of true love never did run smooth. Add to the mix a motley crew of mechanicals who have met together to rehearse a play, also in the forest.
The Three Inch Fools, along with all sorts of musical instruments, bring the magical world of the forest and its aromas of love vividly to life in this new production with bold choreography, fast-paced character-swapping and mystical sound-worlds.
